Manager of Conference Services & Events

SUMMARY: The Manager of Conference Services & Events will spearhead the firm’s internal events for attorneys, clients, and staff. The role will have a heavy emphasis on managing the Conference Center, as well as supervising the group’s junior staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, mentor and train assigned conference services and events staff 

  • Develop and implement the desired scope of services for Conference Services operations

  • Handle complex event/conference logistics and ensure that both internal and external events are executed properly

  • Oversee outside event/conference vendor relationships as needed

  • Manage maintenance of catering rooms, kitchens and conference rooms

  • Work with the broader events and marketing team on collaborative projects to promote the firm’s image and ensure spectacular customer service

  • Hold daily meetings to review event logs and meeting requests

  • Coordinate with other departments to plan and execute events

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 8+ years of previous experience in event planning in a corporate conference center or in the hospitality industry 

  • 3+ years of management/supervisory experience including vendor management

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Working knowledge of conference room reservation software

  • Ability to learn computer software quickly and independently

  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks extending beyond routine expectation

  • Desire to be challenged and to take on additional responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, dispassionately and diplomatically

  • Ability to collaborate smoothly with many other people and departments

  • Very strong customer service skills

  • Ability to complete jobs in a timely manner and meet deadlines
