IP Administrator (Global IP Law Firm)

LOCATION: Boston, MA

HYBRID SCHEDULE: 3 days in office / 2 days remote

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate U.S. and international patent application filings procedures
  • Provide attorneys with information and materials as related to patent prosecution
  • Determine, distribute and ensure compliance with client-specific procedures
  • Review for accuracy reports from USPTO and foreign patent office papers
  • Prepare formalities associated with USPTO filings
  • Draft correspondence to client, foreign counsel and others
  • Prepare and file new U.S. and national stage applications
  • Prepare and file new PCT applications
  • Prepare monthly client reports 
  • Review documents for court and filing deadlines
  • Enter deadlines into the IP docket database
  • Provide relevant information from the docket database, as requested by attorneys and staff
  • Calculate deadlines based on regulations and court requirements
  • Monitor and ensure deadline accuracy of electronic court filings

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of patent prosecution experience in a professional services environment OR 9+ years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm environment required
  • 3-5 years of US Prosecution experience required
  • Knowledge and experience with automated docketing, and other calendaring programs
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of international and USPTO patent law rules, procedures and requirements
  • Experience with patent litigation process, as it relates to the courts and filing requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision, while complying with strict deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Impeccable attention to detail
