Employment Litigation Attorney

LOCATION: Long Island, NY

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to handle and litigate discrimination, wage and hour cases
  • Advise clients on compliance matters
  • Handle litigation from inception through resolution
  • Draft all discovery demands and responses
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Make the requisite court appearances
  • Draft motions; argue motions in federal or state court
  • Conduct expert discovery
  • Prepare and draft court filings
  • Manage client contact information, letters, e-mails, estate planning documents and asset lists
  • Stay apprised of court and statutory deadlines
  • Stay up-to-date with all pertinent laws and legislation

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • J.D. required; Admitted to practice in New York, as well as the Federal Court
  • 3+ years of Employment Litigation and Compliance experience within a law firm
  • First chair trial experience is highly desired
  • Advanced knowledge of compliance laws such as, federal and state wage and hour laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work and coordinate for high-profile clients on a regular basis
  • Familiarity with procedures of courts required
  • Excellent autonomy and ability to handle caseload independently
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service while working under pressure
  • Experience in legal research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
  • Highly adaptable, proactive and works well under pressure
