Attorney Personnel Specialist (Global Law Firm)

Location: New York, NY (remote – hybrid)

The Firm: Major U.S. Multinational Law Firm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Legal Personnel team, including work allocation of tasks, prioritizing deadlines, and providing frequent feedback on how to improve the effectiveness of the team
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all aspects of the immigration process for attorneys
  • Oversee budgets related to visas and immigration
  • Coordinate distribution of and follow up for surveys that are handled by Legal Personnel
  • Track and liaise with relevant internal teams on any attorney changes of status
  • Ensure the Legal Policy Handbook is kept up-to-date
  • Work closely with Directors, Head of Diversity and other managers on initiatives, addressing associate feedback, work/life balance and retaining associates
  • Oversee all aspects of associate departures including conducting exit interviews
  • Supervise leave of absence process
  • Manage and support the Legal Personnel Coordinator on all aspects of the immigration process for attorneys in the New York office, including liaising with incoming associates and outside counsel
  • Manage the annual review process for all lawyers, including the development and use of the review database
  • Review, update and implement policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of legal personnel or related experience in a professional services or law firm environment
  • Prior visa or immigration experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Able to multitask, work well under pressure and complete assignments in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of judgment and discretion
  • Articulate and professional demeanor and detail oriented work manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment and interact with attorneys and administrative personnel of all levels
