SUMMARY: Top-ranked global law firm is seeking an Assistant Manager of Strategic Intelligence to support the Firm’s strategic policy, competitive intelligence and business analytics efforts. This position works closely alongside the Global Research Lead to help shape the firm’s market research and business intelligence strategy.


  • Manage and assist with the cultivation and execution of meaningful strategic business development and analytics initiatives
  • Design project timelines and monitor high-priority and high-yield opportunities 
  • Engage in comprehensive research of the Firm’s transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources
  • Accurately capture and maintain comprehensive transaction deals in the Firm’s extensive database
  • Create manuals and resource materials for the experience database, outlining best practices for researching and recording transactions as well as helping to develop definitions and taxonomies
  • Provide research, coordination and other logistical management and execution of new business pitches
  • Refine and curate core materials related to specific industries, practice descriptions and representative experience
  • Research, develop, and manage on-point visibility opportunities, such as industry seminars and speaking/sponsorship opportunities to increase an individual or the group’s profile
  • Monitor alerts and news flow to support proactive team initiatives
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking research within an industry or among peer firms
  • Assist with collecting specific case experience to record in case tracking database
  • Stay on top of new developments in the legal sector and overall business environment to stay on top of trends in the industry 
  • Update data in the Firm’s marketing CRM database, including the review and creation of mailing lists
  • Review and consult with attorneys on new content, including matters and awards/rankings, and focus of their biographies
  • Collaborate with all functions of the greater Business Development team and Research & Competitive Intelligence team
  • Supervise the firm’s Research Analyst and offer support and mentorship


  • 6+ years of business intelligence or market research/analysis experience in a law firm, finance or investment banking environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, an advanced degree is a strong plus!
  • Deep knowledge of research sources, techniques and technologies 
  • An in-depth understanding of sources covering corporate, mergers & acquisitions, private equity and litigation data
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills, including an innate ability to communicate with stakeholders
  • Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines (at times in high-pressure situations)
  • Expert knowledge of with Microsoft Office software
  • Proficiency with various research databases
