Senior Public Relations Manager

LOCATION: New York, NY | Washington, DC

THE FIRM: Multinational Law Firm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use various media and tools to coordinate firm brand marketing
  • Develop and implement a high impact communications strategy
  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with local, national and trade press
  • Manage PR activities: respond to interview requests, prepare and facilitate partner interviews, draft firm press releases and provide guidance to firm staff globally
  • Work closely with Practice Group Leaders, partners and business development teams to develop PR plans
  • Able to convert complex matters and messages into clear and concise content
  • Advise and assist Firm leadership on executive communications
  • Support other departments and teams within the Firm with getting clear messages out to external audiences
  • Work closely with the Risk team to avoid conflicts and minimize risk in the Firm’s external commentary
  • Ensure the Firm has consistency in their messages across all forms of media and content
  • Coach and work one-to-one with Firm leaders, lawyers and other stakeholders regarding media interactions
  • Develop training programs related to working with the media
  • Act as the Firm’s spokesperson and be an ambassador for the Firm
  • Manage the editorial calendar of award opportunities
  • Advise on submission strategy and messaging
  • Manage a team of two PR professionals in the Americas and work closely with the four PR and communications professionals in EMEA
  • Manage relationships with and guide PR agencies
  • Produce quarterly reports for Firm leadership on PR activities and results
  • Manage, mentor and nurture the PR team

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of public relations experience within a law firm or professional services environment; prior experience at an international law firm highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering PR strategies
  • Experience negotiating contracts and with awards/submissions (ex. Chambers, Legal 500 and other lists/awards)
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to build consensus around new programs and initiatives
  • Excellent written and editorial skills
