ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

LOCATION: Washington, DC (hybrid)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Base salary up to $225K, commensurate with experience, plus generous bonus, Medical benefits, generous vacation and sick/personal days, all paid holidays, 401K, and much in a firm noted for an exceptional culture with a history of career growth, stability and security.

SUMMARY: The Associate Director of Human Resources will provide both overall strategic HR leadership and employee relations support to the Firm’s DC office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and works closely with the Senior Director of Administration
  • Manage HR staff across the firm’s DC
  • Cultivate strategic internal stakeholder relationships, and manage communication across multiple departments 
  • Drive performance management; proactively manage problem areas and key issues
  • Develop a regional staffing strategy for key positions
  • Manage day-to-day employee relations 
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure business practices are in compliance
  • Provide information, advice and direction to managers on HR related matters
  • Determine staff development and training needs with managers
  • Travel between office locations, as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND/OR PHR certification
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with 5+ years experience in an HR leadership role (focusing on employee relations)
  • Prior experience in employee relations, performance management, change management and management development and training 
  • Possess deep knowledge of Federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Ability to demonstrate an analytical skill set to strategically manage decisions
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and leadership 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication abilities
