Compliance Specialist (Bar Admissions)

THE ORGANIZATION: Global Law Firm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the firm’s U.S. state bar admissions compliance program
- Track and maintain the firm’s bar admissions data
- Monitor bar admissions activity for laterals, transfers, incoming associates and remote attorneys
- Confirm and respond to bar verification requests
- Facilitate payments to various bar jurisdictions for annual bar renewals
- Respond accurately and in a timely fashion to firmwide inquiries
- Ensure adherence with the firm’s bar admission policies
- Lead communications, develop training, resources and materials around bar admissions compliance
- Support execution of compliance improvement
- Escalate bar admissions-related issues in a timely manner to the Risk Management Compliance Manager
- Identify and address non-compliance and risk assessment issues with management and partners
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5+ years of experience, preferably with a paralegal, regulatory or bar admissions background
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Able to assist the Risk Management Compliance Manager in coordinating assignments
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, especially in writing and proofreading
- Flexible to work overtime, especially during peak season (January through April)
- Exercises independent judgment when approaching problems and making decisions in pursuit of departmental goals
