Senior Manager of Business Development (Regulatory)

LOCATION: Washington, DC (Remote – Hybrid)

OVERVIEW: Seeking a highly motivated and engaging Senior Manager of Business Development to create and execute strategic plans to generate brand recognition, thought leadership, cross-collaboration among practice areas, and new business leads. The Senior Manager will lead the Business Development team within the Antitrust and Regulatory practice groups. This person will be a mentor for the team and work in tandem with the Director of Marketing and Business Development, practice leadership, and the broader Global Business Development team. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Partner with the Antitrust and Regulatory practice group leadership primarily to assess needs of the practice and evaluate strategies, and implementation of tactics to drive new brand recognition and new business
  • Design and identify opportunities for cross-marketing and putting strategic plans into place to carry out
  • Engage with key external stakeholders for research, conference or thought leadership engagement opportunities
  • Manage pipeline of opportunities, assess the results of pitches and proposals, and provide timely ideas
  • Monitor publications and other sources for potential opportunities and client development, and relay intelligence gathered to partners and associates to provide a competitive understanding to position the firm for effectively securing new business
  • Assess practice group strengths, market news / intelligence, and research clients, competitors, industry and industry trends to aid in BD initiatives
  • Act as lead point person for Marketing and BD within the practices 
  • Prepare pitch material, RFP’s, background intelligence, practice credentials, and key presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders 
  • Spearhead brand raising initiatives, including submissions to directories, and rankings, while working collaboratively with the firm’s PR team on award submissions 
  • Explore speaking and sponsorship opportunities; liaising with the Events and Communications departments on internal and external client-facing and brand-awareness events, website content, and practice-related content
  • Deliver cross-selling efforts structure and support to client teams and client interviews that highlight the firm’s accomplishments and other pertinent developments
  • Provide mentorship to the BD team to foster a culture of growth, positivity and collaboration that will lead to greater efficiencies

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of legal business development / marketing experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Antitrust and Bank Regulatory practice areas 
  • Confident and persuasive communicator with the ability to inspire a global team
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Monitor Suite, Capital IQ, LexisNexus, Bloomberg, Westlaw, Thomson Reuters, or Preqin preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates good judgment in communication  
  • Works well under pressure and in a collaborative environment
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
