Senior Litigation Paralegal

SUMMARY: A top-tier global law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to support the firm’s litigation practice groups. The ideal candidate is a team player and eager to take an active role in supporting the firm's litigation department through specialized tasks and projects pertaining to complex litigation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare for trials in State and Federal Court; manage trial support 
  • Draft and file CA state court and Federal court pleadings and other legal documents (both electronic and paper)
  • Prepare and handle technical, complex filings (sealing procedures, etc)
  • Oversee the process and responsibilities of large and complex litigation projects 
  • Actively participate in interview preparation, client meetings, document collection and production, deposition preparation, hearings, and trials
  • Review and analyze large volumes of data to be produced in litigation
  • Conduct cite checks and case pulls using LexisNexis and/or Westlaw databases
  • Monitor litigation deadlines and oversees litigation docket for assigned cases, ensuring items and dates are calendared, kept up to date, and communicated to the appropriate attorneys
  • Assist with complex litigation tracking and data analysis projects
  • Support the retrieval of rules, regulations, and company profiles 
  • Conduct research using databases including Westlaw, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, and other tools or websites for case law, articles, and statutes
  • Meet the Firm’s standards of excellence in supporting attorney teams
  • Play an active role in helping the firm to provide legal services of the highest caliber to the clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 8+ years of complex Litigation Paralegal experience
  • Strong understanding of CA state and federal court rules and procedures
  • Experience in supporting litigation involving government investigations involving the SEC and DOJ
  • Experience with e-filing and paper filing of court documents 
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of Relativity, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, EDGAR, and similar systems is required
  • Familiarity using CaseMap, and TextMap 
  • Comply with requirements of CA Business and Professions Code section 6450
  • Articulate and professional demeanor and detail-oriented work manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of judgment and discretion
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
