THE ORGANIZATION: International Law Firm
SUMMARY: The Senior HR Compliance Manager will be responsible for managing compliance efforts associated with Human Resources, including analysis and coordination of compliance with local, state, federal and international legislation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on federal, state and local employment regulations
- Advise firm leadership on potential changes to firm policy in order to maintain compliance
- Collaborate with firm labor and employment attorneys to craft policy changes
- Prepare compliance analysis and impact analyses for attorneys
- Ensure buy-in from internal stakeholders on proposed firm policy changes
- Oversee and manage implementation of changes to HR and other firm processes to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with several teams across multiple/all offices, including HR departments in other offices, Attorney Development and Recruitment
- Draft employee handbook policies, updating handbook and text to reflect changes
- Work collaboratively with global offices to ensure compliance with local regulations pertaining to human resources
- Streamline systems by creating uniformity when possible across the firm
- Oversee and manage annual harassment training, reviewing potential training courses in conjunction with firm labor attorneys
- Oversee training rollout by collaborating with the IT department and Attorney Development
- Retain and document training materials for each annual training, and maintain records on employee compliance/attendance
- Prepare compensation data for firm annual pay equity review and provide analysis
- Support affinity groups and diversity activities, including data analysis
- Prepare records and provide analysis for audits
- Develop goals for the compliance group and propose improvements and changes to hit those targets
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends related to HR and employment practices
- Monitor attendance, OT, and expense reports
- Oversee employee performance and provide guidance to employees to manage unsatisfactory performance
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelors is required, JD or Master’s Degree preferred
- 10+ years of HR compliance experience required
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HRIS system data and reporting
- Experience creating employee handbooks
- Ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously, with a strong ability to prioritize, organize and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels, firm management, and attorneys
- Strong data analytic skills
- Strong project management skills
- Able to use discretion and exercise sound judgment
- Able to maintain the utmost confidentiality
- Able to work extended hours to complete projects, as needed
