Professional Development Manager

Location: New York, NY

The Organization: Large U.S. Based Multinational Law Firm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build professional relationships with the partners and establish credibility as a trusted resource 
  • Develop a professional relationship with each attorney
  • Develop relationships with staff, associates and partners in order to serve as a resource for questions regarding individualized professional development
  • Recommend resources to address development needs and monitor progress
  • Work closely with other departments to support Firm initiatives
  • Manage associate and counsel evaluation process
  • Identify and develop department training programs
  • Collaborate with partners to ensure utilization is equitable
  • Coordinate work assignments with other practice groups
  • Track vacation schedules to ensure adequate coverage
  • Provide weekly practice status reports to practice department partners
  • Organize group events and team building activities
  • Encourage attendance at Firm and department functions and programs
  • Facilitate developing and implementing professional development initiatives for the Firm’s staff and leadership professionals
  • Collaborate with key firm leadership to identify staff development timelines for specific personnel

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required; JD Preferred
  • 5+ years of related professional development experience in a professional services environment including experience with staffing and client/organizational support
  • Knowledge of practices and trends within the professional services training and development industry
  • Microsoft Office familiarity, including Excel and Word; with the ability to learn new software quickly
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing
  • Able to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
