OVERVIEW:  You will be part of a dynamic and high-caliber team dedicated to contract creation, review, revision and negotiation. This Procurement Counsel/Attorney works closely with the Firm’s partners, General Counsel and staff to ensure risk mitigation and compliance with the Firm’s policies. You will work closely alongside a global team of talented attorneys and firm personnel who share a passion for doing exceptional work.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and execute all phases contract creation, review and negotiation, especially concerning the Firm’s relationship with its key vendors

  • Assist with interpretation of contractual agreements and changes to key Firm stakeholders

  • Provide guidance on the corporate and legal issues that may arise with contract negotiations and revisions

  • Keep apprised of key changes and best practices within the legal contracts space

  • Work closely with practice group and department leaders to ensure that changes to vendor contracts are in accordance with Firm policies and procedures

  • Suggest improvements to the contract lifecycle process and management

REQUIREMENTS

  • JD degree for an accredited law school 

  • 7+ years of legal contract review experience, with experience in a law firm or corporate legal department preferred

  • Proven ability to facilitate and lead with all stages of contract creation, negotiation and review

  • Active bar license in Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, DC and/or California

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm and function under pressure

  • Ability to communicate effectively, dispassionately and diplomatically

  • Must have advanced proficiency working in MS Word

  • Ability to collaborate smoothly with many other people and departments

  • Ability to be proactive, organize/prioritize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
