POSITION: Mass Tort Paralegal

LOCATION: New York, NY 10019 – Midtown Manhattan

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Base salary to $60,000 plus bonus and well paid OT, Medical benefits, generous vacation and sick/personal days, all paid holidays, 401K, and much in a firm noted for an exceptional culture with a history of career growth, stability and security.

ORGANIZATION: Law Firm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all assigned cases
  • Handle all tasks associated with document production and distribution for attorneys
  • Draft correspondence including, Letters of representation, Notice of claims, Notice of Intentions, Bills of Particulars, responses to demands
  • Research medical and legal literature
  • Locate and interview medical experts
  • Serve as a liaison between law firms, medical experts, and other parties
  • Prepare medical record chronologies, charts, diagrams, expert witness reports and timelines for use in formulating medical-legal case theories
  • Contact Clients and opposing firms regarding examinations under oath and court calendar matters
  • Acts as court liaison between judges, court administration, attorneys, and public
  • Assist in trial preparation, including organizing and preparing trial exhibits, trial notebooks, and binders
  • Organize client correspondence, prepare mailings and handle high call volume
  • Accurately enter client data into a company based software program
  • Assist attorneys with client depositions
  • Organize and maintains case files

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 3+ years Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience with Mass Torts or Class Action is ideal
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Billing Software
  • Excellent Proofreading Skills
  • Knowledge of Standard Office Methods and Equipment
  • Ability to Maintain Strict Confidentiality
  • Ability to Manage Time and Tasks Effectively
  • Solid Interpersonal Skills
  • Understanding of the N.Y. state C.P.L.R. and laws and/or statues
  • Use of Electronic filing system
