Legal Billing Analyst

Location: New York, NY – Midtown Manhattan

Organization: A World Renowned Law Firm

Summary: The Legal Billing Analyst is responsible and highly experienced in billing management. The ideal candidate will be extremely knowledgeable and comfortable with E-billing processes and 3E.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with day-to-day billing operations
  • Work closely with the Billing Manager to ensure compliance with the Firm’s policies and regulations
  • Generate reports and metrics using the Thomson Reuters 3E product suite
  • Process invoices
  • Manage collections activities and follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with attorneys and clients
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to client billing guidelines
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline billing processes
  • Monitor unbilled accounts to ensure timely billing and resolution of outstanding matters
  • Monitor and manage outstanding accounts receivable, unapplied funds and collection efforts
  • Assist with the Conflict Search and New Matter Intake Process
  • Generate Proformas for each assigned partner at the beginning of each month, after the time entry deadline
  • Communicate new/changes in client policies to timekeepers
  • Edit draft invoices based on partners’ mark-up, including: Write-offs, in accordance with firm policies/procedures
  • Track status of bills submitted, identify issues, and work to address rejections and reductions as they arise
  • Monitor payment of assigned clients’ accounts receivable and coordinate collection efforts
  • Provide assistance to partners and clients regarding outstanding and/or short paid invoices
  • Communicate situations as they arise that may require follow-up, such as rate issues, delays in billing, difficult requests, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business highly preferred
  • 5+ years of law firm billing experience is required
  • Related Billing experience in a law firm or professional services company
  • MS Office with emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of the Thomson Reuters 3E product suite
  • Elite 3E and Electronic Billing Systems experience
  • Proficiency in using Power BI to generate reports
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Detail-oriented mindset
  • Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively within a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to adapt to new assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced, highly demanding environment
