Human Resources Generalist

ORGANIZATION: Top-Ranked Law Firm

LOCATION: New York, NY (Remote – Hybrid) 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the daily functions of the HR department
  • Collect, review and process staff timesheets with accuracy
  • Handle benefits and HR policy inquiries from new hires, employees and senior leadership
  • Review staff absence/vacation/time off requests for compliance with firm policies
  • Ensure Health Insurance and other benefit administration
  • Coordinate all benefit changes within payroll as appropriate
  • Organize, monitor and oversee staff educational courses/training
  • Responsible for the on-boarding process of new staff. Including but not limited to: creating orientation packages, conducting new hire training, confirming benefit eligibility, and etc.
  • Responsible for maintenance of, and accuracy of, benefit data in internal and carrier databases
  • Assist with wellness programs, social functions and other departmental sponsored activities
  • Collect benefits information for knowledge base and analysis
  • Coordinate staff and Associate salary annual and performance review processes
  • Assist with file management (e.g. agency contract files, job files and background check results)
  • Respond to employment verification requests for support staff
  • Participate in annual audits of internal processes and documentation
  • Assess morale level, collect feedback, maintain positive working environment
  • Oversee Government Compliance
  • Create, implement, enforce and document office policies
  • Provide administrative and operational support as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of related human resources experience, preferably within a law firm
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be proficient MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Payroll, recruiting, benefits and employee relations experience
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now
  • Excellent interpersonal, client service, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Exercises good judgment, has excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability  to multitask and prioritize numerous responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven ability to work well with deadlines and bring programs to fruition in a timely manner
