Events Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Events team on the planning and execution of Firm events 
  • Use project management skills to define and communicate event parameters
  • Provide ongoing support and respond to requests for assistance
  • Act as expert Cvent user
  • Research site venues and vendors
  • Collaborate with Events team and Conferences Manager regarding on-site event preparation and floor plan generations
  • Facilitate ticket requests with departmental colleagues and external brokers
  • Assign and review event related materials
  • Vet vendors to ensure high-quality service and products
  • Review and edit contracts created for vendors
  • Handle all logistics coordination
  • Coordinate and acquire COIs for buildings with Finance
  • Create budget proposals and track budgets for each event
  • Travel for site visits
  • Make hiring and staffing decisions
  • Provide regular training and guidance to team members
  • Prepare annual performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Consult with senior leadership on employee relations issues
  • Oversee trial site logistics; source and secure trial site space

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of event planning experience in a Corporate or Legal setting
  • 2+ years of management/supervisory experience including vendor management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Advanced Knowledge of NY venues and vendors preferred
  • Working knowledge of conference room reservation software
  • Ability to learn computer software quickly and independently
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks extending beyond routine expectation
  • Desire to be challenged and to take on additional responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, dispassionately and diplomatically
  • Ability to collaborate smoothly with many other people and departments
  • Very strong customer service skills
  • Ability to complete jobs in a timely manner and meet deadlines
