POSITION: Entry Level Bankruptcy Paralegal 

LOCATION: New York, NY – Midtown Manhattan

SUMMARY: The Entry Level Bankruptcy Paralegal will support the legal team under the supervision of  a senior paralegal. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Calendar critical dates related to bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings and related litigation

  • Proofread legal documents for attorneys and senior paralegals

  • Manage and organize case materials 

  • Represent creditors, debtors, and committees in complex bankruptcy cases 

  • Assist with preparing and filing pleadings, court filings, and research local rules, and update precedent for forms of substantive and non-substantive pleadings.

  • Update fee spreadsheets and assist team with preparing fee statements and applications

  • Prepare memorandum for clients, summarizing data from analyzing dockets, invoices and pleadings 

  • Collaborate with other practice groups within the department when necessary

  • Maintain correspondence with clients, creditors and other key stakeholders regarding cases

  • Organize case documents for motions, applications, notices, memos and court orders 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a 3.3 GPA or higher

  • Microsoft Office proficiency is required

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to travel and work overtime is required 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for developing rapport with clients, attorneys and co-workers 

  • The ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at once

  • The initiative to problem-solve

  • The capacity to meet strict deadlines

  • Strong research skills

  • Proficient using computer software and the internet

  • The willingness to make a long-term commitment to the Firm

  • Knowledge of Carpe Diem or Westlaw is a plus
