Summary: Top-ranked international law firm is seeking a Director of Professional Development Attorney Development to oversee and coordinate the process, programming, leadership and overall function of the attorney engagement group in California. This role will support the attorney life-cycle and must have demonstrated experience across employee engagement, diversity, inclusion and attorney workflow integration, onboarding and other morale and retention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement new attorney engagement initiatives
  • Organize and manage morale and retention events
  • Promote the sharing of resources across the firm
  • Assist with integrating new hires into teams and acclimating new hires to the firm’s system
  • Develop and maintain a robust internal mentoring program
  • Work to facilitate local diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Influence leadership and advocates among stakeholders to drive necessary changes
  • Drive and support a cohesive engagement strategy
  • Implement a lateral integration program
  • Guide and manage local attorney engagement budget and workflow
  • Work closely with leadership and the Legal Recruiting and Development Department to support attorney engagement best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master/MBA/JD preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm or professional services
  • Knowledge of NALP and industry practices and standards
  • Must be innovative, analytical and have a collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with executives on plan and execution of strategic goals
  • Distinguished leadership qualities and superb communication skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate with senior executives
  • Sound judgment and discretion
