DIRECTOR OF PARALEGAL PROGRAM 

LOCATION: New York, NY

SUMMARY: Top-ranked international law firm is seeking a Director of Paralegal Program overseeing approximately 50 professionals. The Director is responsible for all aspects of Paralegal management (including Corporate and Litigation support). This role will serve as a firm-wide resource for all practice groups. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Department procedures; including developing and maintaining programs to ensure paralegal program remains top notch
  • Recruit and place paralegals throughout the firm 
  • Support paralegal professional development with training and mentorship programs
  • Ensure a positive, collaborative and inclusive environment for paralegal program
  • Anticipate attorney needs, coordinate workflow and create paralegal teams
  • Manage Litigation and Corporate Paralegal Managers, including oversight of assignments of paralegals to specific matters
  • Provide workflow analysis; oversee calendar of paralegal schedules and assignments 
  • Manage evaluation and reporting process for individual and team success 
  • Foster relationships with staffing agencies to support practice needs with appropriate personnel 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 5+ years of paralegal program management
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's or Law Degree preferred 
  • Attention to detail with competing tasks; able to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster relationships between clients, attorneys, vendors and paralegal group 
  • Ability to work over 40 hours per work to complete tasks under tight deadlines; including weeks, as needed
  • Mental stamina to oversee and support a heavy legal workload
  • Flexibility to travel for client or practice needs
  • Working knowledge of corporate documents (M&A, tender offers, IPO's, LBO's, SEC, EDGAR) 
  • Working knowledge of all phases of litigation (including, but not limited to, cite checking, Blue booking, trial, Relativity)
