Conflicts Analyst (Top Law Firm)

OVERVIEW: The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for utilizing conflicts detection methods and resources to research conflicts and financial data on potential clients, case work, new hires, marketing and promotional requests. As a Conflicts Analyst, you will perform conflict-of-interest checks, including for potential new clients and matters, to ensure that the Firm avoids conflicts with its current and potential clients’ interests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and respond to conflict-checking emails and requests
- Maintain and monitor the firm’s adherence to protocol for clearance of new business
- Maintain and update the firm’s Ethical Wall databases
- Collaborate with Loss Prevention Counsel on alerts to help sustain and uphold adherence to ethical requirements and standards for new business
- Execute searches and conduct research using firm databases
- Analyze and interpret database and research results to identify potential issues in employment or new business that may affect compliance with firm policies
- Perform due diligence and credit checks on prospective new clients
- Generate accurate and concise conflicts reports and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with attorneys, recruiters and others on identified potential conflicts
- Facilitate issue resolution by providing recommendations regarding potential conflicts
- Understand client disclosure obligations and limitations
- Assist with proposing, drafting and tracking Engagement letters, Ethical Wall memos, Accommodation Letters, Waiver Letters and Joint Representation Agreements
- Ensure documented data is of high quality and integrity for matters pertaining to new business clients or firm matters through the application intake process
- Provide attorneys and Conflict Analysts/Attorneys with accurate and timely information to facilitate making informed decisions regarding the acceptance of new business and hiring
- Perform comprehensive corporate research using the firm’s commercial data providers and external sources and complete new business intake forms
- Identify potential conflict and risk concerns and provide a concise and complete summary of analysis and findings to the appropriate firm personnel
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to attorneys with risk management systems, compliance reminders, etc
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 1+ years of previous experience in a conflicts checking role in a law firm or professional services environment highly preferred
- Working knowledge of Intapp preferred
- Strong data entry and word processing skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Intermediate proficiency using MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Able to conduct research using the Internet and other resources
- Able to understand and interpret conflicts and other reports
- Able to synthesize information concisely and accurately
- Able to collaborate smoothly with many other people and departments
- Able to be proactive, organize/prioritize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Willingness to work overtime and be available to reach through mobile device or urgent situations when necessary
