POSITION: Business Development Manager (remote to start)

LOCATION: New York, NY | San Francisco, CA

OVERVIEW: Seeking a highly motivated and engaging Business Development Manager to support the Marketing Department with expanding the growth of the Intellectual Property (IP) practice group. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Business Development 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Partner with IP practice group leaders to assess needs and evaluate implementation of overall strategic plans
  • Devise practice group strategy and attend meetings, identifying opportunities for cross-marketing and putting plans into place to carry out
  • Design and implement go-to-market strategies and identify business development opportunities 
  • Draft pitch material, RFP’s and key presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders 
  • Engage with key external stakeholders for research, conference or thought leadership engagement opportunities
  • Guide the sales material messaging by partnering with BD team to ensure sales materials, pitches and proposals are aligned with the Firm’s core goals and practices
  • Strategize ideas and execute methods for improving the Firm’s business development initiatives
  • Oversee content production for speciality events, sponsorship opportunities, speaking engagements, etc
  • Collaborate with Recruiting and Practice Development teams to develop and improve lateral integration strategies and provide a more efficient onboarding process for lateral partners 
  • Analyze and report on key BD metrics that speak to improving the effectiveness of the Firm’s BD efforts 
  • Provide mentorship to the BD team to foster a culture of growth, positivity and collaboration that will lead to greater efficiency

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of legal business development/marketing experience
  • Strong knowledge of IP practices (patent, trademark, copyright, technology transactions, and privacy) 
  • Some understanding of tech industries (AI, software, mobile, life sciences, cleantech) and legal services (venture capital, startup, IP litigation, etc)
  • Bachelor's degree required, JD is a plus!
  • Strong problem solving and reporting skills 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and word 
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and research databases
  • Motivated, energetic and persuasive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates good judgement in communication  
  • Works well under pressure and in a collaborative environment
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
  • Effective researcher with great attention to detail in legal proofreading and editing
