ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA | Palo Alto, CA

SUMMARY: The Associate Director of Human Resources will provide both overall strategic HR leadership and hands-on day-to-day support to the Firm’s West Coast Offices

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works closely with the Senior Director of Administration
  • Manage HR staff across the firm’s west coast offices 
  • Cultivate strategic internal stakeholder relationships, and manage communication across multiple departments 
  • Drive performance management; proactively manage problem areas and key issues
  • Develop a regional staffing strategy for key positions
  • Manage day-to-day employee relations 
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure business practices are in compliance
  • Provide information, advice and direction to managers on HR related matters
  • Determine staff development and training needs with managers
  • Travel between Bay Area locations, as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND/OR PHR certification
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with 5+ years experience in an HR leadership role
  • Prior experience in performance management, change management and management development and training 
  • Possess deep knowledge of Federal, California, and local employment laws
  • Ability to demonstrate an analytical skill set to strategically manage decisions
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and leadership 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication abilities
