POSITION: Assistant Managing Attorney

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise attorneys, paralegals and staff on the litigation process in state and federal courts
- Conduct legal research and analyze the rules of procedure for federal, state and local courts
- Provide advice to litigation attorneys, paralegals and staff regarding forms of pleadings and interpretation of court rules
- Manage, supervise and train other members of the Managing Attorney’s Office
- Supervise and structure the office’s Managing Attorney’s Office
- Perform research on behalf of case teams
- Collaborate with other offices within the firm to supervise and monitor the firm’s docket and calendar systems
- Confirm conference and hearing dates online and with court personnel
- Communicate with various court and agency personnel regarding the status of motions and applications
- Coordinate and perform court services functions, such as: service of process of subpoenas, review and file court documents, and researching and retrieving of documents
- Assist the Managing Attorney with timely filing and submissions
- Receive service of subpoenas and coordinate with the firm’s Subpoena Intake department
- Coordinate the court and bar admissions for the office
- Maintain the office’s electronic court filing (ECF) credentials
- Review daily court filing alerts
- Research and communicate new developments regarding court rules and procedures
- Collaborate closely with the Managing Attorney to develop and present attorney and staff training programs
REQUIREMENTS:
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required
- Must have bar admission in the State of Illinois
- Previous experience as a litigation associate is highly desired
- 5+ years of relevant experience in litigation
- Advanced knowledge of court rules and procedures; familiarity with NY and/or DC federal and state procedural rules are a HUGE plus
- Experience with Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, and SEC/EDGAR
- Prior experience working with Relativity, TextMap, or CaseMap
- Proficiency using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe
- Strong familiarity with docket management software: CourtAlert, CompuLaw and/or eDockets
- Track record of working on complex court filings; electronic and paper
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
