OVERVIEW: The Assistant Controller will provide direct support to the Finance Department. This role is responsible for managing general accounting operations and will assist in the coordination of the annual budget process and financial statement review process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and mentor the Staff Accountants
- Handle reconciliations and make adjustments as necessary for relevant balance sheet accounts
- Maintain and update fixed asset inventory database
- Perform depreciation analysis and projections throughout the year
- Record and calculate partner earnings for payroll
- Maintain and update partner capital records and statements
- Prepare monthly variance analysis and maintain a rolling year end projection
- Manage and maintain vendor record set up
- Monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate funding for operations
- Manage the Firm’s accounts with various financial institutions
- Prepare and file documentation required by banks
- Prepare and file Personal Property Tax Filing
- Assist with the preparation of the Firm’s annual budget
- Assist with the financial statement audit/review
- Create new documentation as needed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance or related field is required
- 5+ years of general accounting experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting concepts
- Ability to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients and attorneys while producing a high quality work product
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to adapt to new assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced, highly demanding environment is required
